Statement

My paintings deal exclusively with scientific ideas. For the past twenty years I have used scientific concepts in my artwork.  All of the science and mathematics in my paintings are real and come from current research.

The artistic and scientific revolutions of the last hundred years have changed our lives and the world around us in basic and profound ways. I feel it is important for my work to reflect this perspective. My painted visual images, combined with scientific notation and the concepts they describe, reflect the different aspects of reality that art and science provide.

Art, life, matter and all the universal forces form complex systems. My work is really about how all the different parts are linked and integrated. Combining the clarity and elegance of science and the visual richness of art is the main theme of my work.

Biography

I was born and grew up in New York City. I attended Boston University as a painting major for undergraduate and graduate school. While in Boston I developed a company that did scientific illustration and photography used by scientists for publication and presentation of their work. My company did illustration for departments ranging from genetics to physics at Harvard University, M.I.T., Boston University and many biotechnology companies.

I have shown in many different galleries, universities, and museums in group and solo exhibits. I have received several commissions from the Art in Public Places Program of the State of Colorado. These include a three-part painting in the department of Radiological Sciences at Colorado State University and a large diptych painting and five monotypes are in the main lobby of the Health Sciences Library at the Anschutz Medical Campus

I have recently shown at The Center for Visual Arts of Metropolitan State College, Denver Colorado, The Preston Contemporary Art Center, Mesilla, New Mexico, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Fort Collins, Colorado, Mizel Center for Arts and Culture, Denver, Colorado, The Macky Gallery, Boulder, Colorado, Naropa University and Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
