PLANTAE, 2024
ARTIST STATEMENT
This is an exhibit of pantings about plants and some of the science that allows them to flourish on our planet..
Plants surround us but we can only see what is visible to us. Many things are happening at the same time that we cannot see.Photosynthesis, the green of chlorophyll, the chemistry of cellulose, the DNA that builds and carries the genetics of the plant, and even the atoms and subatomic particles are not apparent but are all important.
Like an iceberg, much of what creates a plant lies below the surface and is hidden from view.

me, 2023
ARTIST STATEMENT
“me” is a self-portrait. In this group of paintings I have decided to look at my inner being through a scientific and emotional lens. My genetic background, my upbringing, my thoughts, and feelings makes me the “me” I am. We all think of ourselves as “me”. We are all different but in many basic ways we are very similar. We all look at the world from a “me” point of view.
There are approximately 8 billion people on the planet all thinking of themselves as “me”.
So this self-portrait of “me” is also a portrait of you too!.

Why us, Virus?, 2021
ARTIST STATEMENT
This exhibit of paintings is about the viruses that exist all around us.
In this artwork I have included some of the biology that describes the corona virus named COVID-19.
Throughout history, pandemics have affected human lives and influenced world events.
COVID-19 is just the latest fast spreading virus to erupt and as always we ask, “Why did this happen to us?”
